Sometimes a design begins with a plan. The Lady Emerges did not.

The pendant came first. As I worked the stones and copper wire, I reached the final wires and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them—until I realized they had become her arms, curving around her bodice. Suddenly, there she was.

Above the bodice, a triangular stone became her head. A cluster of purple beads became her headdress, which connects her to the necklace from which she is suspended. Below, granite, amethyst and expressive copper wirework form her body and dress. What began simply as a pendant had become a tiny Lady of fashion entirely on her own.

From that unexpected beginning grew the rest of this four-piece Made to Match set.

The 32-inch necklace, extendable to approximately 40 inches, combines granite and amethyst with individually wrapped stones, copper accents and hand-formed copper roses. The Lady remains its unmistakable centerpiece.

The approximately 6-inch cuff bracelet interprets the necklace rather than duplicating it. Variegated purple stones recall the amethyst while gray matte faceted beads echo the granite. The beads are worked into an open copper-wire grid and surrounded by an additional wire framework for stability. A handmade loop slips over the opposite end stone to give this open cuff a little extra security.

The earrings bring the amethyst forward with elongated faceted amethyst points, while hand-formed copper roses repeat the little roses found among the stones of the necklace.

Finally, the deliberately simple ring takes one tiny detail from the Lady herself. A purple glass bead like those in her headdress is surrounded by spiraling copper wire—a wrap that also quietly recalls the rose motif running through the collection.

Four pieces don't simply share the same colors. Each takes something from the Lady and tells a different part of her story.
