Sometimes the treasure reveals itself to the artist.

The Lady Emerges began with the pendant—not with a plan to create a figure, but simply with granite, amethyst and copper wire finding their places one piece at a time.

The large granite stone formed the foundation, embellished with free-flowing copper wirework. Above it came amethyst and another granite stone. As I worked upward, I reached a point where I couldn't quite decide what to do with two remaining lengths of wire.

Then I saw them.

They were her arms.

Suddenly, what had been an abstract wire-wrapped pendant became a tiny lady of fashion. The amethyst at her center became her bodice, embraced by sweeping copper-wire arms. A triangular granite stone became her head, and above it, a cluster of small beads became an elaborate headdress—which also cleverly serves as the point from which she is suspended from the necklace.

Once she had emerged, the rest of the necklace grew around her. Granite and genuine amethyst stones travel along its generous length, with extensive individual copper-wire wrapping and hand-linked sections bringing the varied natural stones together. At two of the granite junctions, the copper wire itself has been hand formed into tiny roses, adding another unexpected detail to discover along the necklace.

At approximately 32 inches at its shortest, The Lady Emerges is designed as a long statement necklace. A claw clasp and generous extension chain allow it to reach approximately 40 inches, giving you plenty of flexibility to change where the pendant falls with different necklines and outfits.

She wasn't sketched. She wasn't planned. She simply appeared somewhere between the stone and the wire—which seems fitting for a treasure that will never be made exactly the same way again.
